G908G: The 360-Gram Tracker That Runs for 6 Months on a Single Charge
4G Cat.1 · 6000mAh (3×18650) · IP67 · UWB Optional

Built for assets that live outdoors and get forgotten
The G908G is not a wristband. It is not a watch. It is a 360-gram, palm-sized tracking module designed for a single purpose: attach it to something valuable that moves, and forget about it for months.
The defining engineering decision is the power supply: three replaceable 18650 industrial-grade Li-ion cells providing a combined 6000mAh. This is not a sealed consumer battery. It is three standard cylindrical cells in series — the same format used in power tools, e-bikes, and industrial equipment. If a cell degrades after years of service, it can be replaced.
Combined with the same Cortex M4 + Cat.1 bis low-power architecture we use across the G series, the G908G achieves:
| Mode | Duration |
|---|---|
| Standby | 200+ days |
| Normal use (10-min reporting) | 30+ days |
| Ultra-long standby (short-connection mode) | ~6 months |
These are not lab numbers. They come from the same power-consumption table we publish for all G-series devices. Contact us for the full table if you are doing your own battery-life modeling.
What people attach it to
The G908G ships with 3M adhesive backing and screw-mounting points. A magnetic mounting option supports up to 4 magnets, each rated at 22.5 kg of holding force — enough to secure the device to the underside of a steel vehicle frame.
Airport ground support equipment: Non-motorized dollies, baggage carts, boarding stairs — assets that sit idle for days, then move intensively for hours. The G908G's accelerometer-triggered reporting activates only during movement. A cart parked for three weeks reports its position once every 12 hours. The same cart being shuttled between terminals reports every 10 minutes. Wuhan Tianhe Airport deployed G908G trackers on their non-motorized cart fleet.
Construction and industrial vehicles: Generators, compressors, light towers, welding rigs — high-value equipment left on unsecured sites overnight. The IP67 housing survives rain, mud, and the occasional pressure wash. Geofencing triggers an alert if equipment moves outside the site perimeter after hours.
Commercial assets: Supermarket shopping carts, roll cages, returnable shipping containers. The G908G's size (125 × 85 × 50mm) is designed for assets where concealment is not required — the tracker is visible, which acts as a theft deterrent in itself.
The proximity alarm ecosystem
| Model | Radio | Proximity Method | Accuracy | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| G908G | 4G Cat.1 + BLE 5.1 | BLE ranging | 1-3m | Vehicle-to-person alerts via smartwatch/badge |
| G908GU-T | 4G Cat.1 + UWB + BLE | UWB precision ranging | <0.5m | High-precision collision avoidance (broadcast mode) |
| G908GU-R | 4G Cat.1 + UWB + BLE | UWB precision ranging | <0.5m | Tower crane/vehicle-to-UB01 beacon ranging (scan mode) |
How it works in practice (G908GU-T + W200PGU): A forklift carries a G908GU-T with an external 80dB or 110dB sound and light alarm. Workers wear W200PGU smartwatches with UWB. When a worker enters a configurable radius around the forklift (set at 5 meters, for example), the worker's watch vibrates and the G908GU-T triggers its strobe and siren. Both devices simultaneously push the alarm event to the cloud platform via 4G. The alert is logged with timestamps, location, and device IDs — it is not just a warning, it is a record.
For tower cranes (G908GU-R): A UB01 UWB beacon is mounted on the crane hook or base. Vehicles carrying a G908GU-R enter the crane's swing radius. The G908GU-R continuously scans for the UB01's UWB broadcast. When within configurable range, it triggers an alert. Both devices run for months without charging — UB01 beacons are rated for 10 years on a 38,000mAh internal cell.
BLE alternative (G908G base model): The standard G908G uses BLE ranging instead of UWB. Accuracy drops to approximately 1-3 meters, but no UWB infrastructure is required. The G908G communicates directly with any BLE-enabled smartwatch or badge in range. This is a practical choice for deployments where sub-meter precision is unnecessary — for instance, ensuring forklifts and pedestrians maintain general separation in a warehouse aisle.
Positioning for assets, not people
The G908G uses the same four-source positioning architecture as our wearable products, but optimized for asset behavior:
GPS + BDS (BeiDou) — primary outdoor source, 5-20m accuracy
WiFi fingerprinting — useful in urban canyons and near buildings
Cellular LBS — fallback when satellite and WiFi fail
BLE 5.1 beacon scanning — indoor, 1-3m with beacons
Asset-specific reporting logic
The G908G is smarter about when it reports than a personal tracker. Its accelerometer makes three-tier decisions:
Stationary for <20 minutes — no positioning or reporting. The device sleeps.
Movement detected — immediate position fix, then continuous reporting at the configured interval.
Stationary for >12 hours — a single position report with battery status is sent, then the device returns to sleep.
This means a generator parked in a depot for six months will check in twice a day. A forklift running an active shift will report every 10 minutes. You do not need to manage reporting profiles manually — the accelerometer handles it.
External alarm: 80dB or 110dB
The G908G and its UWB variants support an external sound and light alarm module. Two output levels are available:
80dB — suitable for indoor environments, warehouses, retail spaces
110dB — suitable for outdoor industrial sites, construction zones, mining operations
The alarm connects via a dedicated interface on the device. It is powered by the G908G's internal battery and triggered automatically when a proximity threshold is breached, or manually via the platform.

What the G908G is NOT
It is not small or concealable. At 125 × 85 × 50mm and 360 grams, it is designed for assets where visibility is acceptable or desired. For covert tracking, use the G638G helmet module (30g) or G608G band.
It does not have health sensors. No heart rate, no SpO2, no temperature. This is an asset tracker, not a wearable.
The default battery configuration is three 2000mAh cells (6000mAh total). Higher-capacity 18650 cells can be specified for order — contact us.
BLE ranging (G908G base model) provides 1-3 meter accuracy. If sub-meter precision is required, choose the G908GU-T or G908GU-R with UWB.
Deployment note: charging infrastructure
With a 6-hour charge time and a fleet of devices, plan your charging workflow before deployment. The G908G uses magnetic USB charging — the same cable format as our other G-series products. For large fleets, consider a multi-device charging station. If you are building your own centralized charging cabinet, adhere to the overcurrent and overvoltage protection guidelines we publish. Three 18650 cells store substantial energy; improper charging at scale is a thermal risk. Contact us for our charger design reference notes.
